CELLIST & ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
A highly accomplished solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, Dr. Nara Shahbazyan has performed and recorded extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She is a member of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, Cape Symphony, and the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestras, and she is the Associate Director and cellist of ENSEMBLE / PARALLAX. She is a cello professor and the director of the string ensemble at Stonehill College. Moreover, she teaches cello and chamber music at the Rhode Island Philharmonic School.
She has participated in numerous music festivals such as the Salzburg Summer Music Chamber Institute, the Bach 2000 Festival, the Seville Opera Festival, the Babylon International Festival, the New York City InCite Festival, the Echternach Orchestra Festival, and Tufts University’s Festival of Contemporary Music. Dr. Shahbazyan received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in cello performance from Boston University.
